Seems like more and more companies are no longer offering access to Usenet Newsgroups.

In the past ISPs generally offered access to Usenet Newsgroups but now a separate industry seems to have cropped up just for accessing Usenet Newsgroups.

Well, that's a funny way of looking at it. It looks to me as if Google is dropping Usenet into the trash. Sue, Usenet will continue on, but on February 24 it loses any political relevance it may have had, not that it had much to lose, anyway. Usenet was dying just fine as it was when anybody could easily and freely access it. But soon, whatever is said in Usenet will stay is Usenet. There will be no chance of Lurker visitation. Only the very old and very sad old farts linger on , perhaps for many years. And nobody at all will notice or care what they say. Perhaps even the CIA will no longer bother with it. Strike that. Probably the CIA guy will be the one to turn out the lights.
